Proton Therapy in Conjunction with Other Treatments

One of the many advantages of proton therapy is that it can be used in combination with other cancer treatments such as chemotherapy and/or surgery.

Since proton therapy permits a high dose of radiation to be administered to the tumor without significantly increasing side effects, other complementary treatment modalities may be used to further reduce toxicity. Proton therapy can also be used to supplement surgery to treat cancers near vital organs where surgical removal would prove too risky.

Additionally, proton therapy can also be used for cancer recurrence. Read more about treating tumors in areas of the body that have previously undergone conventional X-ray radiation therapy.
